Spring school break it's almost here!, and we are ready, full day camp week for children who want to explore, have fun and being creative with our Art Classes. Children ages 8 -12 will work with a variety of art mediums.
You don’t have to wait for summer to have fun at a great Art School Camp!
Join us over spring break for unique and fun arts learning experiences with our amazing art classes.
They will draw, paint, print and use mixed media. Each day will have a specific art medium in focus. You’ll find our most popular art exercises from our Summer Arts Camps as well as a few surprises, all taught by MIFA faculty, a group of amazing and experienced teaching artists.
Spring Break camp is from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Space is limited to 12 students.
Participants must bring a lunch and a snack
Registration $20 per child or $30 per 2 children.
Full day camp week fee: 1 child $265 week / 2 siblings $518 week.

We will end this camp with an exhibition where the children will participate by exhibiting their own works of art, having the full experience of being little artists, as well as a personal portfolio with all the work done during the summer with us.
Family and friends are invited to performances and exhibitions (as noted) spotlighting the work created throughout the camp.

Our team of facilitators is made up of highly trained artists specialized in different branches and disciplines of art, with experience in training and group management.
Mixed Media focuses on a creative exploration of different materials and tools, combined to create a piece of art that express the child's vision on the assigned project.

We will explore the use of lines, simplified shapes, and textures to produce hand-printed artworks and colorful patterns relating and applying this process to handmade books.
This module will be focused on teaching how to create art in 3-dimensional structures with different materials.
Children will produce their own printed artwork on paper and fabric using a traditional printing press. We will use the technique of monotype and collagraph, experimenting with artistic visual gestures, shapes, and colors, through the world of graphic art, facilitating creativity and guided free expression.

MIXED MEDIA
SONIA HIDALGO
Mixed Media focuses on a creative exploration of different materials and tools, combined to create a piece of art that express the child's vision on the assigned project. A Children will know and use a wide variety of media such as watercolor, wax crayon, acrylic, and charcoal, applied to the development of techniques such as sgraffito, faux batik, collage, draw and stitch, and positive and negative silhouette.
BIOGRAPHY
Sonia Hidalgo is an American citizen that was born in Venezuela. Graduated in Fine Arts at Cecilio Acosta Catholic University in Venezuela, she also has a well-rounded education including studying with renowned Master of Art, besides her learning experiences studying in her travels from the greatest Museums and galleries in the world. Her teaching and working experience include the Art Florida Academy for 19 years, and since 2020 at Miami International Fine Arts MIFA as Director and Instructor of MIFA Mixed Media, Portfolio Prep and Young artists programs.
THEATER AND PUPPETS
WILLIAM ALONSO
We will create puppets from basic materials such as cardboard, paper, cloth, and others, and through the game and the art of improvisation carry out the staging. The puppet show is a collective creation from the development of the character, script writing, and staging. Therefore, each child has an important role in the creation of his puppet and then in his contribution to the group, in the creation of the scenic assembly. All of this enhances creativity generating the development of skills in communication, social interaction, and strengthening self-esteem.
BIOGRAPHY
William Alonso, Graduated from the District University of Colombia as a Teacher in Plastic Arts, and Magister in Aesthetics and Art history. During his career he explored the world of theater and puppetry, studying dramaturgy and the language of the theater of objects. His art has been highlighted with awards and recognitions that reflect their work. He has worked as an art teacher and theater director.
MANUAL PRINTING TECHNIQUES AND HANDMADE BOOKS
HELEN LUPO
We will explore the use of lines, simplified shapes, and textures to produce hand-printed artworks and colorful patterns relating and applying this process to handmade books. Children will become authors and illustrators of their own books, approaching art on paper, the construction of ideas, meanings, symbols, and the elaboration of stories, learning to link images with concepts. It allows children to immediately see cause and effect in action, personal reflection, and develop their own visual language while enjoying.
BIOGRAPHY
Helen Lupo is a psychologist, artist, author, and professional teacher with over 15 years of experience having students of all ages. She completed specialized studies in Traditional Graphic Arts in Florence, Italy, and in Gilding and Polychrome Art in Galicia, Spain. She is currently a Recreational Mental Health Therapist, Art Instructor for the Adult Drawing and Painting Program in the Town of Miami Lakes, and a printmaker instructor at MIFA Print Shop.
MODELING AND SCULPTING TECHNIQUES
ANDREA CIATTI
MIFA Summer Camps offer a unique opportunity to learn new art techniques. This module will be focused on teaching how to create art in 3-dimensional structures with different materials. They will learn different techniques with friendly materials such as papier-mache, air dry clay, recycling materials, beads, fabrics, and much more. In some cases, the course will be focused on learning a specific technique, and other days on the creation of models that will result in artistic expressions such as masks and more. Focused on a kinesthetic approach the students will be able to enjoy learning about new materials and how they can transform them with their own hands and ideas.
BIOGRAPHY
Andrea Ciatti is a multidisciplinary artist who graduated from Theater Performance in Toronto, Canada, and continued her studies for a Master's in Accessory Design in Madrid, Spain. She has explored her artistic career in the world of acting, film production, accessory design, costume design, fine arts, and contemporary jewelry in various countries like Mexico, United States, Spain, Canada, and Venezuela. Her love for materials and unconventional tools continues to push her need of breaking the limits of her creativity. Having several exhibitions such as the Capitol in Tallahassee and Miami History Museum. She hopes to continue to fill spaces with artwork and teach others the fun of material exploration.

Children will produce their own printed artwork on paper and fabric using a traditional printing press. We will use the technique of monotype and collagraph, experimenting with artistic visual gestures, shapes, and colors, through the world of graphic art, facilitating creativity and guided free expression.
BIOGRAPHY
Helio Salcedo is a Colombian American artist who lives and works in Miami; painter, engraver, and graphic artist. He has taught art in different modalities to people of all ages. For more than ten years he has taught art and printmaking in a Montessori education school for children. As an artist, he has participated in numerous art exhibitions in Europe, Latin-American, U.S.A., and North Africa, winning awards and outstanding honorable mentions for his career and artistic work. Currently serves as director of the MIFA Print Shop.
