Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA) is thrilled to launch the MIFA AWARD 2022 , its inaugural ONLINE art competition! The MIFA AWARD 2022 rewards stellar artists in both 2-D (painting and/or drawing) and 3-D (sculpture) mediums, offering figurative artists the opportunity for acknowledgment, celebrating representational art in one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic cities for culture.
Artists from anywhere, not just Miami, can apply. Artwork must be figurative, but its interpretation, style, execution, and/or content can be decided by the individual artists and is not limited to strictly academic work. Notable judges will choose finalists based on how well the submitted artwork balances technical excellence with conceptual creativity.
The winners in the 2-D or 3-D categories will receive a cash prize and the opportunity to do an intensive workshop for one week in Miami.
Please read below for more instructions and to learn how to apply. Kindly contact info@mifamiami.com or call 305-470-0009 for any questions.
Easy Steps to Apply:
Ramiro paints only from life, searching for accuracy beyond physical appearance to reach the psychological state of his subject. He believes the painter must draw his information from “all five senses” to tell the complete human story.
Lynn Davison is known for her expressive paintings, drawings, and etchings that "strive for visual tension expressed through the reaching, groping, and agonizing of angular anatomy - knees, knuckles, and wrists," she says. Her work is represented by Alan Avery Art Company in Atlanta, and is included in numerous public and private collections.
In 2006, Dan Thompson co-founded the Grand Central Academy of Art in New York. In 2008, he co-founded the Janus Collaborative School of Art in New York. He is currently the Dean of Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia. His work can be found in public and private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.
Miami International Fine Arts is an exciting, new fine arts center which spearheads the future of private, grassroots arts programming, committed to the integral education of our community. We truly believe that the only road to freedom is through education and culture. Art is not a luxury for any advanced civilization; it is a necessity, without which creative intelligence will wither and die.
Miami International Fine Arts is committed to excellence through:
An incredible roster of instructors--who are impressive artists and creative experts in their own right--bring a lifetime of practice and tried-and-true teaching methods to MIFA’s art classes and workshops. Adjacent to the classrooms is MIFA Gallery, an exhibition space which provides a nexus for contemporary representational art to be shown, discussed, explored, and collected, serving not only South Florida, but Latin America, as well. To create artwork in an environment with rotating, diverse art displayed nearby allows for circular conversations which enrich and expand not only our supporters and students, but our whole community writ large.
You can learn more about MIFA by visiting www.mifamiami.com and www.mifagallery.com.
Artists can submit one work in one of two categories: 2-D art (paintings and/or drawings), or 3-D art (sculpture).
