MIFA’s Art Magnet Preparation Program is designed for students in grades 5 and above, offering a blend of academic and creative work that prepares them for art magnet schools, scholarships, and top art colleges. With a focus on traditional and contemporary techniques, the program emphasizes observational drawing, 2-D and 3-D media, and composition. Under the guidance of experienced instructor Sonia Hidalgo, students develop strong, portfolio-quality work, with a 99% acceptance rate into art magnet schools.

Portfolio Prep Schedules and Fees:

Registration fee: $55.00

(A) Course = 5 weeks program/1 class per week

3 hours long

Saturday: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM OR 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Tuition fee: $360.00

(B) Course = 7 weeks program/1 class per week

6 hours long

Saturday: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Tuition fee: $925.00

Young Artists Program

Young Creative Program /for Kids 8-10 years old The Young creative continuous program provides a supportive, fun environment for children to develop creativity, stretch their imagination, and learn art concepts and drawing/painting techniques. Young creative schedule: 4 weeks /1 class per week/ 3 hour long each class Saturday: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM

About The Instructor

Sonia Hidalgo, a Venezuelan-born artist currently residing in Miami, is recognized for her exceptional talent and artistic prowess. With a foundation rooted in private drawing and painting classes at a young age, Sonia's creative journey led her to complete her bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Education, at Cecilio Acosta Catholic University in Venezuela. Her artistic process has evolved into a deeply spiritual and introspective exploration, incorporating mixed media techniques to convey a rich tapestry of emotions and experiences. Sonia's work seamlessly merges her Latinx heritage with the vibrant artistic influences of Miami, resulting in captivating and thought-provoking pieces that leave a lasting impact. She is the director of our Mixed Media Program.
