Establish MIFA’s Center for the Arts as a Prominent Hub: Our ultimate goal is to position MIFA’s Center for the Arts as a prominent hub that not only educates but also serves as a nexus for artistic innovation, collaboration, and the celebration of creativity in our city.
In a world overwhelmed by fleeting trends and transient attention, the story of Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA) shines as a beacon of enduring creativity and cultural transformation.
Imagine, if you will, the year 2019 — a time when the relentless pursuit of innovation often eclipsed the timeless value of art. Yet, in that very year, five visionaries — Teresa Jessurum Uribe, Elkin Cañas, Milixa Morón, Gilberto Uribe, and Carlos Martinez — united around a shared dream that transcended the ordinary.
Their vision was simple yet revolutionary: to harness the transformative power of the arts to shape culture. From this vision, MIFA was born — not merely as an institution, but as a living sanctuary where art is not only seen but felt, where students immerse themselves in creative depths and emerge with new languages of expression and insight.
By 2023, Marco Caridad joined the team as Artistic Director, guiding the institution into a new chapter: one where MIFA became a canvas for masterpieces, a place that sparks dialogue, challenges conventions, and inspires profound reflection.
At the heart of MIFA is an unwavering commitment to education and the cultivation of emerging contemporary artists — a harmonious space where creativity, innovation, and continuous learning converge.
This is more than the story of an art school.
It is a testament to the enduring power of vision, collaboration, and artistic expression as forces of cultural metamorphosis.
As MIFA continues to weave its legacy into the vibrant cultural fabric of South Florida, it extends an invitation:
Join us.
Experience the pulse of the city’s cultural life.
Be part of a place where art lives, breathes, and transforms.
