No experience is required for most of our programs. The Atelier Program is structured to take students from the very beginning — geometric forms, Bargue drawing, value scale — all the way through advanced oil painting with a live model. We assess where you are and place you in the right stage of the curriculum from day one.
The Art Renewal Center (ARC) is the leading international organization dedicated to realist and classical fine arts education. ARC-Approved™ status is granted exclusively to ateliers that meet rigorous academic standards in classical drawing and painting instruction. MIFA is the only ARC-Approved™ atelier in Miami — and one of a select few in the entire state of Florida.
Yes. MIFA uses open enrollment — you can start any week of the year without waiting for a new semester or a waitlist. Contact us and we will get you into the studio as soon as possible.
All three options follow the exact same curriculum at different paces. Full-time students attend 4 days per week (Tuesday–Friday, 9:30 AM–4:30 PM). Half-time students attend 2 days per week. Part-time students attend 1 day per week. Pricing adjusts accordingly. Most students choose based on their schedule and how quickly they want to progress.
The full Atelier curriculum covers 6 terms: Intensive Drawing I & II, Intermediate Painting I & II, and Advanced Painting I & II. A full-time student typically completes one term in approximately 3 months. There is no fixed deadline — you progress when you are ready, not when a calendar says so.
All Atelier programs at MIFA are taught by professional working artists — painters and draughtsmen with active exhibition careers who teach because they love passing on the craft. You will not be learning from someone who only teaches. You will be learning from someone who paints.
Contact us through our website or send us a direct message on Instagram @mifamiami. We will schedule a brief conversation to understand where you are and recommend the right program and schedule for you. There is no pressure and no commitment required to have that first conversation.
