Sonia Hidalgo's class is fantastic. She teaches the Mixed Media class, among others. This class is a playful and skillful space where there are no limits, just imagination and technique. Sonia is a fantastic teacher. She is very engaging and committed to her craft, as well as to teaching emerging artists. I leave every class with new knowledge and a fresh vision of art techniques. Sonia is also an incredible artist. I love her class. I highly recommend it.

I began painting with Sonia 25 years ago. I left the arts for 7 years and now I am back with Sonia at MIFA . I am learning new techniques and having a great time. Sonia is a great professor and I continue to look forward to new challenges and Sonia’s constructive criticism.

Sonia is an extraordinary art teacher who is skilled in a vast variety of mediums. She is a consummate charcoal artist, a gifted painter, a great pastel artist and skilled with textiles and all kinds of materials and techniques. She encourages each student to stretch their abilities and achieve their best. She also has advanced computer skills and can blend and alter photos to create any image her students envision. Sonia is also kind and fun and great to be with. She is a gift in my life.

Sonia has been heaven sent to me. After two big loses in my life she was able to inspire me to paint again. I use oils and I love colors with a palette knife. Sonia has encouraged me to keep my style and has taught me so much about color. She has a great eye for color mixing. I have enjoyed her clases and the small group of new friends that I have develop there. Thank you Sonia for helping me get my passion back.
